Tales Of A Newbie In Community Management
Honestly… I have never really considered Community Management as a career path for myself.
Well, not until January 2024.
I've always been amazed by how Community managers keep their communities engaged, and how vibrant and fun they were to communicate with.
And I just couldn't picture myself as that person. Definitely not with my personality. Lol
But then, I guess we can say “Never say never”.
In January, just a few days into the new year, an opportunity came knocking. Yeah, you guessed right.
I was given an opportunity to manage a community. Could this be fate or just a mere coincidence? I pondered.
But then, I have never actually believed in coincidence.
I was not so certain about how things would turn out if I accepted this offer, but then I took a chance on myself and accepted it anyway.
And that was how it all started.
I knew that I had to gain knowledge to be efficient at my job and so I chose to apply for the Empower Her Community Non-Technical Bootcamp 2.0.
My journey within the past 4 weeks has been nothing short of amazing.
I have gotten to learn about who a community manager actually is and key strategies every community manager should utilize to engage their community and drive value.
We've had to work on series of assignments which has further broadened my knowledge.
Fun fact: We've had to lecture our tutor as well 😁. We were given various topics to talk about and it was amazing getting to tutor and learn from my peers.
One thing I'm quite certain about is growth by the end of this bootcamp.
Every class ends with a challenge that pushes us to be better and that's one thing I have loved so far.
It has been a very practical, interactive and value filled four weeks.
Can't wait for what's in store for me in the coming weeks.
On that note, I would love to end thie piece with something my facilitator said in our last class. You can be anything you choose to be.
The only thing that could stop you, is you!
So yes, despite being a very reserved and introverted person, I believe that I can do this!
I can be an excellent community manager.
So let's do this!! 💪❤️
Did you find value in this piece? Don't leave without dropping a 🫶.
Keep being amazing.
Until next time,
Love, Dora ❤️.
